Honey House Distillery
Small Batch, Hand Crafted, Blended by Hand, Honey Spirits
It began with Danny Culhanes father Vernon, the some of an Irish immigrant who worked the Silverton mines and homesteaded on Florida Mesa. One day, Vernon cut a bee hive out of an old tree on his land, and hand carved a bee hive. It took some years but once he was able to get the bees to survive the winter the rest was history. He sold his first batch of honey to his neighbors in 1925 , and by the 1940’s he was one of the biggest bee keepers in Southwest Colorado. Danny learned the honey making business “by osmosis” and assumed the Culhane family honey making business by 1974
People came from all around to get ol’ Verns honey, passing their love for the honey through the generations.
Fast forward to 2012, Kevin Culhane and his friend Adam Bergal decided to expand the Honey legacy to spirits. Always a passion they got their licensing and started experimenting with Honey and Whiskey. Their first product was created: Colorado Honey Whiskey and shortly after Colorado Cinnamon Honey Whiskey. As demand grew, so did their business; purchasing a custom made “Queen Bee Still,” and coming out with a variety of new spirits like Hex Vodka, a vodka made from honey, and Red Cliffs Spiced Rum blended with wildflower honey.
